Organisers behind a competition to find future stars of the catwalk have urged more adults to enter this year’s event.

So far more than 250 people have entered the Bradford Modelsearch competition – now in its 11th year – which sees eight winners from four age categories share £500 in shopping vouchers and have the chance to be taken on by DK Model Agency.

But competition co-ordinator Michael Tierney said more entrants over the age of 16 would be welcomed.

He said: “The event is brilliant. Every year you think it’s not going to be as good, but it is.

“The audience just love it. They stay there all day some of them, just to see who is selected and who goes through.

“Everybody seems to look forward to it.”

Budding models can take part by filling in the form in today's T&A and submitting a photograph by Monday, April 23.

Successful entrants will be invited onto the catwalk for heats at the Kirkgate Centre on Sunday, May 6. Finalists will be selected to return to the centre to go before the judges on Sunday, May 20.

The judging panel will feature representatives from DK Model Agency, Modelsearch as well as Kirkgate Centre retailers and previous competition winners.

A new category will see the finalists put to a public vote in the Telegraph & Argus Readers’ Choice category.

Photographs will be published in a supplement in the T&A on Friday, May 11, from which readers can select male and female winners from each age category.

The age categories are four to six; seven to ten; 11 to 15; and 16 plus. There is no upper age or size limit.

Previous winners include Chloe Windle, seven, who has worked on a TV advert for DFS.
