A 21-year-old man failed to pay for a taxi ride after going into a house and falling asleep, Skipton magistrates heard yesterday.
Frederick Smith got a taxi to take him to Hall Street, Cross Hills, on December 23, but failed to pay the £10 charge, the court heard.
Smith, who admitted making off without payment, left the driver outside waiting to be paid, the court was told.
Smith, of Belle Vue Terrace, Skipton, was given a community order with 40 hours unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £10 compensation to the taxi firm.
