A free session at Keighley’s Central Hall will help voluntary groups get funding to help bring together people of different faiths.

The Near Neighbours Fund offers grants of £250 to £5,000 to create “first encounters” between people from different backgrounds. It can also be used to encourage them to come together regularly, or to help them to work alongside each other to improve their area.

Keighley & Ilkley Voluntary and Community Action (KIVCA) is giving groups one-to-one help with applying to the fund throughout February and March. It has organised the February 29 event, in Alice Street, to provide additional support.

KIVCA voluntary organisations support officer, Shaun O’Hare, said: “These small grants are an excellent way of kick-starting activities that help to form long-lasting relationships between people of different faiths or none.
