Police have pledged robust action in response to increasing reports of youths throwing objects at house windows, starting small fires and placing traffic cones in the middle of roads in Idle.

A councillor claims that cutting back on youth workers has contributed to anti-social behaviour by youngsters.

But the Labour councillor in charge of services for young people said Bradford had spent more than most other Yorkshire councils on such issues.

A number of incidents of anti-social behaviour were reported in Idle Park and Myers Close last week, police said, including young people setting fires, throwing objects at windows, placing traffic cones in the middle of roads and aiming laser pens into homes.

Jeanette Sunderland, ward councillor for Idle and Thackley and leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Bradford Council, said: “There have been incidents of anti-social behaviour and we have been working with the police and the youth service to try and resolve it."
