Dogs are set to be banned from the key feature of Bradford’s new City Park – the mirror pool – and must be kept on a lead in the park itself.

The control orders would make it an offence for anyone in charge of a dog to allow the animal on to the mirror pool site, whether it is full of water or not. Dogs would also be excluded from the fountain in Norfolk Gardens.

In addition the new rules would require owners to keep their dogs on a lead in both the City Park and neighbouring Centenary Square.

Bradford Council chiefs have applied for the orders to address potential health and safety risks in the new six-acre park, with effect from January, which is when the area will open to the public.
