Governors of a Bingley secondary school are discussing plans to break away from the control of Bradford Council and turn the school in to an academy.
A decision over the future of Beckfoot School is expected to be made by its governors in January.
Head teacher David Horn said: “The only reason we are considering becoming an academy is because we don’t want things to change here unless we choose to do so.
“We have created a great school with wonderful students, fabulous staff and high quality resources. We are proud to be a comprehensive school with students of all abilities and backgrounds. That must not change.”
