A Baildon man is fighting for his life after he was involved in a collision with a taxi early today as he walked across a road.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which happened shortly after midnight as the 49-year-old pedestrian was crossing Neville Street in Leeds city centre, near to its junction with Sovereign Street.
He was involved in a collision with a black and white Toyota Avensis hackney carriage.
The vehicle was travelling down Neville Street in the direction of Beeston at the time. The driver stopped at the scene.
The injured man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where his condition is described as critical but stable.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Eastern Area Roads Policing Unit at Killingbeck police station via the Force's non-emergency number 101.
