Police have pledged to put revellers on the road to a safer Christmas after suspending the licences of unlawful taxis in Keighley.
Officers from Airedale and North Bradford were out in force on Friday and Saturday to check if taxis were road legal, stopping 28 vehicles over the two nights.
Overall, officers suspended the licences of six drivers for offences and advised another seven their vehicles needed work.
Two £80 fixed penalty notices were issued to drivers for speeding offences while another two drivers were also given the £80 fines for using mobile phones while driving.
The operations were carried out as part of Airedale and North Bradford’s Operation Northdale initiative to help women stay safer at night and reduce the risks of sexual offences.
Sergeant Steph Fox said: “More work is now planned and we would encourage all residents to make sure they have a fun but safe Christmas.”
