World Thai-boxing champion Rachael MacKenzie returned to her former school in Bradford this week to present prizes to pupils at an awards evening.
Miss Mackenzie, who won the title in 2006, visited St Joseph’s Catholic College, in Heaton, on behalf of Sky Sports Living for Sport, a scheme aimed at inspiring young people and raising attainment in schools.
She also shared her own story of overcoming difficulties and helped teachers plan their Sky Sports Living for Sport project.
She said: “I come away from every school visit feeling really inspired – by the drive and determination of the young people I meet.”
