Pupils from Hanson School have been handing out Christmas biscuits to pensioners living nearby.
The year eight pupils raised £450 to pay for 148 boxes of biscuits given to people as a thank-you for tolerating building work being carried out at the school on Sutton Avenue in Swain House.
The youngsters held a cake sale and a non-uniform day to buy the biscuits.
Year eight head Louise Higginson said her students were overwhelmed with the response they recieved.
“We wanted to give out a gift as a sign of good will because of all the building work, parking restrictions, and noise that they have had to endure over the past 12 months,” she said. “It went really well and some of the people were in tears and were saying thank you.”
