Plans for a £5 million railway station in Low Moor are to go on show this month – after nearly a decade of campaigning from rail users’ groups.

Transport authority Metro will be holding a public consultation on the plans, which go back to 2007 but were updated in May last year.

Campaigners and members of the transport authority have welcomed the consultation, to be held at Oakenshaw Veterans Bowling Club, in Cleckheaton Road, Bradford.

James Vasey, chairman of Bradford Rail Users’ Group, which has campaigned for a station to re-open in Low Moor since 2001, said he was looking forward to seeing the plans, but warned it was important that residents were happy with them.

He said: “The money is secure so we are looking forward to going down to the consultation, supporting it and seeing how people in Low Moor feel and make sure it meets their needs as well."
