Plans for 25 new homes to replace “old-fashioned” sheltered accommodation have been unveiled.
Earlier this year, 30 homes, a warden’s lodge and communal area at Dale Court, Fieldway, in Ilkley, were knocked down by social housing landlord Incommunities because they were deemed unfit for purpose and not worth renovating for sheltered accommodation.
And now Incommunities has unveiled images at a public consultation of the three-bedroom affordable homes it intends to build to replace Dale Court.
It expects to submit a planning application in a few weeks and has a target of March 2013 to get the homes built.
The new properties will be made up of five to rent and 20 for sale on Fieldway after Incommunities secured funding for the scheme.
Incommunities group chairman and Bradford district councillor Martin Smith said the consultation had been well received by people living near to the proposed site.
“The consultation is the basis to show residents what we propose to do,” he said.
“So far the responses have been positive.
“It’s an opportunity in a good area to realise a good asset and get development underway.”
Coun Smith said he hoped work could begin on the site early next year and said all the new homes would be very similar but not identical and each would have its own individual touch.
