A retired Bradford firefighter has been shortlisted for a national award for going out of his way to support beneficiaries of The Fire Fighters Charity while battling cancer.

Chris Kenyon, of Idle, was a firefighter for 32 years but retired in 2006 before joining the Bradford Arson Task Force.

He was then forced to retire again due to ill-health and has since had a great deal of cancer treatment, causing severe side effects.

Yet despite struggling with heavy and tiring medication, Mr Kenyon has gone out of his way to be cheerful and supports other beneficiaries of The Fire Fighters Charity, which helps enhance the quality of life for serving and retired fire service personnel and their families.
