Roads remained closed around a fire-ravaged mill today due to the building being potentially unsafe.

Police have said initial indications suggest the blaze which wrecked the disused mill off Thornton Road, was “malicious”.

Officers, along with fire investigators, were today working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the blaze.

Fire crews were damping down this morning and a structural engineer is due to visit the scene.

Up to 80 firefighters tackled the fire off Thornton Road, near to its junction with Tetley Street, which broke out during Tuesday's rush hour at the disused mill.
