Bradford actor Ben Eagle is appearing in one last production before heading off to London to take up a place at the Central School of Speech and Drama.

Ben is starring in the musical Chess, his 55th drama production, at Victoria Theatre, Halifax.

Written by Tim Rice and Abba’s Benny and Bjorn, the show is set around an international chess championship played out against the Cold War.

“It feels weird to be performing in Yorkshire for what may be the last time, at least for several years,” says Ben. “Being a founder of Paper Zoo Theatre Company, and having worked with various Bradford theatre companies, it’s going to be a sad time – but also exciting. I can’t wait to begin my three-year course at such a great drama school. Chess is a great musical, it won’t disappoint. My character, Molokov, is a manipulative Russian politician who uses the game of chess for propaganda purposes. It’s always great fun to play the villain!”

The show runs from September 7 to 10. Ring (01422) 351158.
