Councillors are seeking assurances that strict terms of a legal agreement remain in place when the site of the derelict Odeon cinema in Bradford city centre changes hands next month.
City Hall planners said they “understood” the Section 106 Agreement between developers Langtree Artisan, Bradford Council and Yorkshire Forward would still apply when the Homes and Community Agency (HCA) takes on its stewardship.
An update on the process which will allow the Prince’s Way site to make way for the New Victoria Place scheme was given to members of the Council’s Regulatory and Appeals Committee yesterday.
Councillor Mike Ellis (Con, Bingley Rural) wanted reassurance that the Section 106 Agreement would still apply, as set down by the committee in September 2009, when Yorkshire Forward loses ownership of the building.
A legal officer told the committee: “My understanding is that the HCA is taking over the site from Yorkshire Forward and it will be bound by the Section 106 Agreement.”
Councillor John Cole (Lib Dem, Baildon) said: “This needs more clarification. Can I suggest that the legal officer reads through the documents and comes back to us on e-mail?”
