Kimberley Walsh has started a movie career – with a truly horrid role.

The Bradford pop star plays Prissy Polly in the big-screen adaptation of the popular Horrid Henry children’s books.

Kimberley, of Allerton, joins a star-studded cast including Anjelica Huston, Richard E Grant, Prunella Scales, Noel Fielding and Jo Brand in the comedy about a mischievous boy who wreaks havoc at home and school.

While his brother, Perfect Peter, wins praise for being good at everything, Horrid Henry runs wild with the Purple Hand Gang, stressing out his long-suffering parents and po-faced teachers.

Based on the books by award-winning author Francesca Simon, the family film is set to be one of the movie hits of the summer.

Prissy Polly is Henry’s cousin who squeals a lot. In one of the books, she marries Pimply Paul and they have a daughter, Vomiting Vera.

Kimberley was joined on the red carpet at the London premiere of the film by two of her Girls Aloud bandmates, Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts. Other band members Cheryl Cole and Nadine Coyle are reported to be in America.

Kimberley, who went to Stage 84 theatre school in Idle and Shipley dance school DM Academy, is an ambassador for Breast Cancer Haven, a charity supporting breast cancer patients in the region.
