An indie band lauded by two of the country’s most talented guitarists has been added to the star-studded line-up appearing at this year’s Bingley Music Live.

The district’s biggest music festival has confirmed that Liverpool lads The Coral are on the bill for the Bradford Council-run event in Myrtle Park from September 2 to 4.

Noel Gallagher, the former Oasis guitarist, and Primal Scream bassist Mani Mounfield have publicly hailed the band in recent years. The five-piece, who hail from Hoylake in the Wirral, are probably best known for their 2005 smash hit ‘In The Morning’.

Describing the style of music that festival goers can expect from the band, organisers said The Coral combine country, retro-psychedelia and folk-rock with modern alternative.

Their latest album, ‘Butterfly House’, which is number six since the band formed 15 years ago, has been hailed as an “absolute masterpiece” by former Stone Roses strummer, Mani.

Councillor Ghazanfer Khaliq, the Council’s executive member for leisure, said more acts will be announced.

He said: “The bill for this year’s Bingley Music Live is shaping up to be the most diverse yet, with more top names still to be announced.

“Tickets are selling out fast and I would encourage people to buy them early.”

Now in its fifth year, the festival has already confirmed anthemic rock band Athlete, electronic production duo Chase and Status, upcoming grime rapper Wretch 32, seminal rappers Stereo MCs and alternative rockers Maximo Park. Hip-hop legends Fun Lovin’ Criminals will headline on the free Friday night.

Weekend tickets cost £35 plus a booking fee and are available across the district. They can also be bought online via bingleymusiclive.com/tickets.php.
