A Bradford technology company has doubled its sales figures after making two major acquisitions.

Belgravium Technologies Ltd, designers and manufacturers of real-time data capture systems for the logistics industry, saw its turnover rise to £4,982,000 in the first six months of 2006, from £2,359,000 during the same period last year.

Belgravium, which employs 38 people at its headquarters at Listerhills Science Park, Bradford, also saw operating profits surge by 81 per cent, from £430,000 in 2005 to £780,000 in 2006.

The acquisitions - of Manchester-based Touchstar Technologies and Novo IVC in Warwickshire - have boosted the group's earnings and ability to expand into new markets.

Chairman John Kembery said the company had posted strong results despite suffering a quiet first quarter.

Mr Kembery said: "After a slow first quarter and the inevitable issues of incorporating two new businesses into the group, this is a good interim result.

"To maintain our position in this market, we have adopted new sales strategies which have brought results in winning contracts.

"Equally, there has been some success in our long-term drive to develop new and related markets and to provide solutions to customer problems by new technical capability, some of which came from Touchstar.

"Much has been achieved in this quarter to build confidence that the company will benefit from these acquisitions in the second half of 2006 and in future years.

"We have got some really solid orders coming through in the third quarter."

Group managing director Mark Hardy said a more aggressive sales strategy had been reflected in the strong results and added Belgravium was keen to cement its strong position in the German market.

The AIM-listed company specialises in mobile computers, ranging from hand-held devices to vehicle-mounted equipment.

Clients use the computers in conjunction with communications technology to monitor progress of products from the warehouse to delivery.

Manchester-based Touchstar manufactures and supplies data capture systems largely for the oil and petrochemical industry predominantly for markets in the US, Europe and Australia.

Through Leamington Spa-based Novo IVC, Touchstar also supplies similar systems for airlines and railways.
