‘If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands’ rang out in Lister Park during a world record-breaking attempt involving thousands of schoolchildren today.
A mass sing-song was organised by the Positive Bradford campaign to better the ciy’s image on the tenth anniversary of the riots.
Participants were set a challenge to sing the words over and over for at least five minutes to secure an entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
Both primary and secondary schools, including 150 pupils at Aire Valley School, Cottingley, took part in the bid and helped to smash the previous world best of 755 people.
Some schools had picnics before the singing got under way.
They were guided through the lyrics by radio presenter Alex Duffy before attempting the record.
The Positive Bradford group of business and education people and community leaders are continuing with plans for a ‘Positive Bradford Day’ in the city centre in September.
