style inspiration from Sixties singing sensation Diana Ross, historical figure Napoleon Bonaparte and the movie Sweeney Todd swept down the catwalk as Bradford’s fashion students showcased their talents.

The event, at Bradford’s National Media Museum, saw a range of iconic figures brought together through fashion in Bradford School of Arts & Media’s recent graduate fashion show.

Cotton dresses inspired by ‘Pantone Colour’ demonstrating the art of dart manipulation in a range of detailed constructed creations and a collection of men’s tailored trousers designed for the female form saw the students return to the British tradition of tailoring techniques for a modern society.

The classic clean lines of Sherlock Holmes inspired a collection with an English heritage twist, while the story of Peter Rabbit and other Beatrix Potter characters unfolded in a collection of dresses and separates inspired by the legendary children’s tales.

There were garments inspired by powerful and glamorous women, in-keeping with which was a range of individual outfits based on Barbie’s lifestyle and careers!

Clare Lamkin, arts and cultural events manager at Bradford College, says: “The School or Arts and Media Fashion Show demonstrated the creative talent to be found in Bradford. Degree and pre-degree students showcased collections that are imaginative and stylish.

“All the collections could easily be transposed for current trends in the high street. We were delighted to have partners from Delhi and Colombia bringing collections to the show – our work with international colleges being key to giving our students a rich and varied experience.

“The show was a culmination of much hard work from all those involved. As a business sponsor of the National Media Museum, we were thrilled to hold the show at the museum.”
