If you’re a fan of long-running Radio 4 soap The Archers you will probably be familiar with the voice of Tim Bentinck.

Tim plays David Archer in the much-loved saga of Ambridge folk, and this weekend he’s bringing his one-man show to Otley Courthouse. The only Earl currently working as a professional actor, he is best known for his Archers work, and perhaps less well-known as the voice of the “Mind The Gap” recording on the London Underground.

An actor since 1978, Tim’s career has spanned theatre, TV and film. His TV credits include Heartbeat, Silent Witness and The Bill, and he is a top voice artist, having done voiceovers since childhood. He is also a singer/songwriter.

His show, Loved Your Chocolates, is a mix of anecdotes, impressions, comedy songs, video clips and ‘live lip-synch’ with a demonstration of radio sound effects and voiceovers.

“It’s a mixed bag, I guess,” says Tim. “It’s like having lots of people round to dinner and making them laugh – although you’d never see a live radio lambing at a dinner party!”

Loved Your Chocolates: An Evening With Tim Bentinck is at Otley Courthouse on Saturday. For tickets ring (01943) 467466.
