A 27-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries sustained in an alleged assault outside a Bradford pub in the early hours of the morning.

Three men, aged 47, 25 and 16, were arrested at the scene of the incident, outside Holme Lane Tavern, in Tong Street.

Although there would not have been much traffic on Tong Street, Bradford, at the time of the incident, detectives are hoping that passing taxi drivers may have seen the incident and may provide vital information.

Following the disturbance, a police officer stood guard at the scene to allow investigation work to take place.

Witnesses to the incident are being urged to come forward.

A police spokesman said: “Police were called at around 2.40am in the early hours of Sunday morning to reports of a disturbance on Tong Street in Bradford.

“Officers arrived at the scene and located a 27-year-old man with serious injuries. He was transported to hospital where he remains in a poorly but stable condition.

“A 53-year-old woman was also treated by paramedics and attended hospital for a minor injury.”

The three arrested men have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Bradford South Detective Inspector Mark Long said: “Although traffic will have been minimal at this time of night, it is likely there will have been passers by, in particular, taxi drivers who may have seen this incident occur.

“I would call on any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact Bradford South CID via 0845 6060606 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.”
