Irish band Danu comes to Saltaire this Sunday.

The band that was once too busy to play at Mick Jagger’s daughter’s party in Hawaii has found time in its hectic schedule to come back to the World Heritage village’s Victoria Hall for a second time due to popular demand.

It’s been five years since they last toured England and appeared at a SaltaireLive gig, but it will be well worth the wait, says organiser Simon Heginbotham.

The in-demand band, much sought-after by festival organisers, headlines major Celtic and traditional music events worldwide.

Taking their name from a Celtic goddess, the band first played together as teenagers at Ireland’s Oireachtas Festival back in the Nineties.

Bookings soon rushed in from festival organisers and the band was up and running. Fifteen years on, and seven albums later, Danu has recently been playing in America and been involved in TV work at home in Ireland.

Tickets for Danu’s performance are £13.50 each and available on (01274) 588614 or at the door.

The next SaltaireLive show will be with Michael McGoldrick on September 11 as part of Saltaire Festival.
