A young Shipley actress who had a major role in a TV adaptation of Yorkshire saga South Riding has been nominated for a top award.
Charlie Clark, 17, is up against two others for best newcomer in the National Television Society Awards. The award ceremony is in Leeds on Monday.
Charlie was nominated by the producers of South Riding which was largely filmed in the district and starred David Morrissey and John Henshaw.
The drama set in a Yorkshire community during the 1930s Depression was adapted from Winifred Holtby’s novel.
Filming took place at the Connaught Rooms in Manningham Lane, All Saints C of E Primary School in Little Horton, Saltaire village, Salts Mill, Keighley Town Hall and West Morton.
Charlie, who went to Stage 84 as a child and is now at Leeds West Academy in Bramley, plays schoolgirl Lydia Holly.
The former pupil at Windhill Primary School said: “I’m keeping everything crossed for Monday. I’m hoping this award might be the first of many .”
