Promoted Silsden laid down a marker for the new season as they scored a superb 3-1 victory away to defending champions Albion Sports in the Premier Division match of the day.

Silsden were first to apply pressure but good defending by Sports kept the goal-hungry forwards at bay.

It took 20 minutes before Silsden captain Jim Langley took advantage of some slack marking to edge the visitors in front.

Both teams produced good football in windy conditions both and the two goalkeepers were kept busy.

Silsden held out until half-time as the champions hit back but five minutes after the restart they equalised through Ross Thompson with a well-taken goal.

Albion were tending to lose possession in midfield and their opponents were eager to take advantage.

Silsden's pressure finally paid off on the hour mark as Langley headed his second.

Sports tried to fight back but good goalkeeping kept them out and in the final minute Adam Whittaker killed off the game with Silsden's third goal.

Unbeaten Silsden are second behind Bolton Woods, who are the only team with a 100 per cent record record.

But they were made to work hard for a 1-0 victory in their latest game against determined and organised visitors Brad-ford Park Avenue Rangers, who hit the woodwork on three occasions.

It needed a late strike by Talc Hussein from the edge of the area to separate the teams.

Oakenshaw took the lead through Martin Gurley after five minutes at home to West Bowling but eventually lost 2-1.

It remained 1-0 until the 55th minute, when Darrell Leach equalised, and Andy Atkinson then hit a penalty winner after Oaks had a player sent off for a foul in the area.

Michael Naylor hit a brace for Queensbury in the first half and a further strike by Darren Fletcher gave the hosts a 3-0 interval lead against Whitley Lane on their way to a 4-0 success.

Dudley Hill Rangers, with two goals by Jamie Mckewan and one from Roman Zuric, were holding Westwood Park at 3-1 but two goals in the last eight minutes earned a draw in Division One.

Another match to share six goals featured Crown Wyke and Ventus Sports, who equal-ised in the last minute.

Early pacesetters Buttershaw White Star have yet to drop a point and they beat Eccleshill 5-3 thanks to goals from Aidy Butterworth (2), Mark Brett, a Lee Bialek penalty and an own goal.

Oakworth Juniors also have a 100 per cent record but they can thank two disputed goals and an own goal for giving them the points from a 3-1 win at Wibsey WMC after Ian Walker had given the hosts a first-half lead.

Eastward moved into a 3-0 interval lead with a brace from Danny Mularkey and a further strike by Mickey Adams but a determined second half from visitors Ring O' Bells prevented any further goals.

Division 1A leaders White Horse suffered a shock when Simon Childs put Hudsons in front after 20 minutes.

But an equaliser from Arron Williams left the visitors level at the break and they went on to win 4-1.

Chris Williams scored two of the second-half goals either side of one from Lee Taylor.

A hat-trick from Nick Walker helped Oddfellows Athletic to a 6-2 home win over Holme Wood Athletic Reserves.

Victoria Rangers surged four goals ahead against Baildon Trinity through Craig Ricketts, Paul O'Conner and a Danny Firth brace but three late replies by the visitors left the result in doubt.

Defences were on top at Arkwright Street in Division 1B as promoted Tyersal and Relay Recruitment Rovers took part in an entertaining 0-0 draw.

Tyersal had the best chance to end the stalemate but Graham Sides shot narrowly wide in the final minute.

White Eagles striker Craig Smith scored the decisive goal after five minutes in his team's 1-0 victory over Dudley Hill Rangers Reserves.

And a Lee Summerscales hat-trick, plus a Denis Fawlthrop brace, helped Craven Heifer overcome Ventus United 5-3.

Top scorers in the division were Royal Clayton, who saw off Chellow B 7-1 thanks to Ben Collier (2), Andy Field-house (2), Michael Ferguson and Motteram cousins Adam and Stephen.

There were also plenty of goals in the lower sections and top scorers were Stock Lane Rangers, who rocked hapless Dynamo Delius 14-1 in their Division 3A match, while a Paul Andrews hat-trick set up a 5-2 verdict for Delius at Quarry Reserves.

Britannia were 8-1 winners at Idle in Division 2B and Michael Murphy hit a hat-trick for Top House Crusaders in their 3-2 Division 3B win over Nabwood Juniors Reserves.

In Division 2A, Ben Gallon hit a brace for Hare & Hounds but it could not prevent a 3-2 home defeat to Gaping Goose, who trailed 2-0 before Andy Garland, Armani Kaali and Bob Thorne hit back.
