Liversedge slipped out of the FA Cup in disastrous circumstances in last night's replay in the north-east after getting off to the best start possible.
They raced into a 2-0 lead but lost defender Johnny Haigh to a red card, after he conceded a penalty that brought Newcastle level at 2-2, and then crashed out due to an own goal from midfielder Craig Farrand.
"We footballed them to death yet ended up losing, so everybody is well down about it, but no blame can be attached to any of the players," said Sedge boss Eugene Lacy.
Richard Marshall opened the scoring and Ryan Buckley soon added a second goal with a neat turn and shot midway through the first half.
The home side pulled one back before the break and then equalised from the spot, before Farrand attempted a last-gasp clearance after a defensive scramble in the 79th minute but only sliced the ball into his own net.
