Council officials are seeking a warrant to rid a derelict house of nuisance pigeons.

Environmental Health officers had given the property owner two months to sort out the problem but he failed to respond.

Earlier this week, the Telegraph & Argus reported how roosting pigeons in the former shop and house at 265 Otley Road were making life a misery for 81-year-old neighbour Mohammed Nazir.

Bolton and Undercliffe councillor Howard Middleton took up the pensioner’s battle urging the Council to put pressure on the landlord.

Today, the Council revealed the landlord’s notice to carry out the necessary improvements had expired and steps were being taken to resolve the matter.

Andrew Lodge, Bradford Council’s Environmental Health manager, said: “We served the owner of 265 Otley Road with a notice two months ago to have the roof window made secure. That notice period has expired and the owner has failed to respond.

“We are now seeking a warrant from magistrates to gain access to the building to make sure any pigeons inside the property are removed before we seal the window.”
