Cake bakers are preparing for a ‘bake-off’.
The Shipley Cake Festival, on Saturday, June 25, is aimed at encouraging people in the area to put their baking skills to the test.
“Last year we held our first cake festival and it was a great success,” said organiser Frances McKniff. “The most popular baking categories were ‘Shipley Sheep’ and our ‘Clock Tower’. This year we are widening that category to include any Shipley landmark.”
The festival will include cake decorating activities for all ages, and local charities HALE and Kirkgate Studios and Workshops will be running activities for parents and children.
The festival runs from 1pm to 4pm at the Kirkgate Centre. Anyone wanting to enter a cake or run a stall is asked to go to the Kirkgate Centre for a form or ring (01274) 580186.
