Liversedge 2 Newcastle Blue Star 2

Liversedge face a very testing journey tonight in an FA Cup replay that could have been avoided with more disciplined defending in the initial tie at Clayborn on Saturday.

But even renowned prickly interviewee Eugene Lacy was pained to admit that the game was finely balanced and the Sedge boss conceded that a draw was the right outcome.

"To be honest, it was a fair result but it has given us a nightmare trying to prepare a squad to go on such a long journey with so short notice," said Lacy.

"Their second goal was bizarre. It was pinball in our area and the final cross was headed in by a player at least five yards offside. Everyone was waiting for the referee's assistant to flag - even the referee.

"We were the better side after the break but we just couldn't break them down more than the once. That is disappointing and I have no idea what strength of squad will be available tonight."

Blue Star took the lead midway through the first half but Sedge levelled just after the half hour.

Paul Walker fired in from the corner of the area but it was less than two minutes later that the visitors edged back in front.

Ryan Buckley earned Sedge their replay with a header over the advancing Newcastle keeper to produce the only goal of the second half.
