A Bingley charity has changed its name.

Andrea’s Gift, the brain tumour charity set up eight years ago in memory of Bradford mum-of-two Andrea Key who died from a brain tumour, has received approval from the Charity Commission to change its name to Brain Tumour Research and Support (BTRS).

Carol Robertson, fundraiser and charity development manager, said it was felt a name change was needed so the charity was instantly recognisable with the work it does.

“We will never lose the passion that Andrea Key gave to this charity and will retain Andrea’s Gift as one of the funds within the new charity structure,” she said.

Hollyoaks actor Rob Norbury, who plays Riley in the teen soap, has thrown his support behind the charity after attending a fundraising event in Skipton.

Rob was at Harry’s Star Ball – organised by Clare Marsden in memory of her ten-month-old son, Harry Marsden-Melling who died of a brain tumour. It raised £25,000 for the charity.

The next fundraising event in Bradford is a five-a-side tournament at the Goals centre from 9am on Sunday, July 17. Call (01943) 870770.
