An all-night ‘mash-up’ of performances based on A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of the events taking place as part of Solamatik, a major arts and music festival.
The festival is based in Bradford, and events will be taking place across West and North Yorkshire. Celebrating the arrival of summer, it features a range of acts, including jazz, soul, brass bands, world music and folk as well as crafts, exhibitions and drama.
Ten different productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will take place in and around Bradford Playhouse, ranging from a performance in Bradford Urban Garden, to a screening of a rare 1909 silent movie version of Shakespeare’s comedy in the auditorium of the Little Germany theatre.
Taking place on Tuesday, June 21, and Wednesday, June 22, the event also includes a ‘Luvathon’, an all-night marathon of poetry, song and drama. The multi-genre Solamatik festival replaces Bradford’s MelaMatik and runs until June 21. Bradford events include Fitness Vibez, a Druids Delight summer solstice walk on Ilkley Moor, and an Ilkley Moor folk extravaganza.
