A Shipley jewellery designer will help budding crafters follow in her footsteps by producing a do-it-yourself range.

Rowan Grant, who set up her business Kitschen Sink from her home, is celebrating after seeing her designs in this month’s Cosmopolitan magazine.

The designer, who described the style of her creations as “bold and brash” said she had responded to a call for fun accessories by the magazine.

Her designs have included bracelets made from tape measures and earrings from Lego cubes, but she is now moving into acrylic jewellery, after her bold lightning strike necklace was featured in Cosmopolitan.

Miss Grant was also given a boost last year when her designs were chosen by fashion stockist and designer Supermarket Sarah, to be sold at a temporary shop in Selfridges’ flagship store in London’s Oxford Street.

“This year I’m doing more in the way of acrylic, like what was featured in the magazine,” she said. “I am also hoping to do Kitschen Sink on tour, and will be going around craft fairs in the summer.

Miss Grant is also in talks with Bradford College about hosting craft sessions for students over the summer.
