A soul and Motown concert in honour of Bradford cancer victim Shirley Dumican is back by popular demand in a bigger venue.

Brothers, Craig and Jason Joseph, along with bandmate Anthony Raymond, will take to the stage as The Gillettes at the Hilton Hotel in Bradford on Saturday, March 26.

Their set will feature Leeds-based singer Olivia, who will dip into her repertoire of covers of hits by the likes of The Supremes, Diana Ross and Gladys Knight. The night’s entertainment includes a disco.

It will be two years to the day of the death of the brothers’ mother, who, for the last two years have hosted shows at Manningham Ward Labour Club.

Craig, of Bingley, said: “Last year we raised more than £4,000 with every penny going to Marie Curie’s Hospice in Bradford and the year before we raised £3,000.

“It’s gained a popular following, so this year we are taking it to a bigger venue. Hopefully we’ll raise even more money in honour of my mum.”

Shirley, of Lower Grange, died peacefully after illness, aged 62, in the Marie Curie Hospice in 2009. She left behind four children and six grandchildren.

A total of 600 tickets are available for the tribute concert at the Hilton, in Hall Ings, next month. They are on sale for £8 and are available by calling Craig Joseph on 07850 431521.

Alternatively, tickets will be available from the venue on the night of the show. Doors open at 7.30pm.
