A 20-year-old man has made his first appearance before Bradford Crown Court accused of wounding and sexually assaulting a 94-year-old woman during a burglary at a Bradford care home.
Scott Sorby appeared by video link from Manchester Prison today for a preliminary hearing.
He will next come before the court on May 23 for a case management hearing when he will be expected to enter pleas to the allegations against him.
A five-day trial was fixed for July 11.
The pensioner suffered severe head injuries during an incident at her ground floor flat at the Rosewood Court care home in Shakespeare Close, Barkerend, Bradford, during the evening of Friday, January 21.
Sorby, who was living in a hostel in Bradford Road, Cleckheaton, is charged with burglary, wounding with intent and sexual assault. He is also accused of two robberies, at a store in West Park, Leeds, on January 22 and January 23, and burglaries in Shipley on January 22 and West Park on January 25.
