If you fancy more cultural and travel opportunities than you can wave a stick at, then this could be for you.
In a bid to recruit new members, Craven Flagcrackers morris dancers are putting on an all-dancing have-a-go session later this month.
So if you have ever fancied brandishing a stick of the colourful variety and being a part of the Morris dancing renaissance then Farnhill Institute near Skipton is where you need to be on Sunday, February 27.
The event from 10.30am to 3.30pm is open to men, women and children – no previous experience necessary.
The Skipton morris team’s members range in age from four to 70-plus, says its squire Kevin Andrews.
The institute is the group’s usual practise venue and there will be a break for lunch and the chance to meet and chat with the members at the session.
“You don’t just drop into morris dancing, you have to make the effort. The idea is people can come along, have a dabble and make their minds up later.
“It’s a relatively strenuous activity, but it’s great fun. We’ve got some training dances we can do on the day to ease people into it!” said Squire Andrews.
For information on joining the side or booking The Flagcrackers of Craven to entertain at an event, call the squire on (01282) 775026.
