A group of ambitious Bradford students will be getting their teeth into a prestigious dentistry programme.
The sixth-formers have been selected to take part in the Reach for Excellence scheme, for young people who are considering a career in dentistry.
The Becoming a Dentist event has been organised by Leeds Dental Institute and Aimhigher Bradford, an organisation which helps raise the aspirations of young people and supports them through higher education.
Seven Bradford Year 12 students – who attend Feversham College, Carlton Bolling College and Belle Vue Girls’ School – joining other students from across West Yorkshire as they meet the team at the University of Leeds dental school.
They will be taught how to make the most of work experience, learn about dentistry at university and get tips on making their applications stand out.
Stephie Quigley, of Aimhigher Bradford, said: “Becoming a Dentist will increase the students’ chances of standing out from the crowds when applying for highly competitive university courses.”
She said the event had been designed to support students under-represented in the dental profession, as part of the General Dental Council’s commitment to promoting equality e-mail: tanya.orourke @telegraphandargus.co.uk
