A high-profile hotel is undergoing a major three-phase refurbishment at a cost of more than £800,000.

The extensive revamp at the Hilton, in Hall Ings, Bradford, includes work to the hotel's restaurant, facade, ballroom, bedrooms, toilets and conference rooms.

The work comes hot on the heels of large-scale refurbishment projects at the Midland Hotel and the Great Victoria Hotel, both in the city centre.

Regeneration chiefs say investment in the city's hotels represents a boost for the city's rebirth.

Maud Marshall, chief executive of Bradford Centre Regeneration, said: "The refurbishment of the Hilton is another sign of the continuing investment in the city centre. As the regeneration develops the need for high-quality city centre accommodation will increase for both the business and tourism markets.

"Along with the refurbishment of the Great Victoria Hotel and Midland Hotels this can only improve Bradford's offering."

The first phase of the revamp, finished two weeks ago, focused on the ballroom where a new carpet was laid, walls redecorated, new lighting installed and 450 new banqueting chairs introduced.

Phase two of the programme, which is ongoing, involves a transformation of the hotel's restaurant, which will be re-launched on Saturday as City3.

The hotel's facade is also undergoing a facelift, with the installation of new lighting, flag poles, signs and a full repaint.

The final phase of the investment will revolve around 48 of the hotel's 120 bedrooms which will undergo a refit at a cost of about £300,000. The eight-week programme starts at the beginning of September.
