Saucy calendar girls have ditched their civvies in favour of military gear for a sexy photo shoot – to raise money for wounded war heroes.

Friends Leah Newby, 21, Michaela Duffy, 23, Nikki Keats, 25, Danielle Branon, 24 and Jamie-Lea Gilliam, 19 – all of Queensbury, Bradford – have stripped off in a bid to raise £1,000 for the Help for Heroes charity.

It is close to their hearts – Michaela’s brother and Nikki’s fiancee, Brendan, 27, is in the Army and has just completed a six-month tour of duty to Afghanistan.

The calendar pictures were taken for free by photographer Robert Boardman and feature the girls wearing camouflage combats – and very little else – in a series of sexy poses. Graphic designers agreed to put together the calendar at cost price to show their support for our troops abroad.

Leah Newby, of Victoria Street, said: “It is the first time we have done anything like this.

“It was nerve-wracking at first but it is a family friend who has taken the photos at his house. None of us are models so we were a bit worried but it is all for a good cause.”

The calendars are flying off the bar at The Wheatsheaf pub in High Street, Queensbury, run by Michaela’s brother, Keiran, 28.

He said: “We had 50 calendars printed just to see how it would go and we sold them all in 24 hours. We’ve had quite a few orders and a local councillor has given us a cheque for £150, so we’ve got some more on order, which should be printed by Sunday.”

Mr Duffy said there were even more charity fundraising events planned in aid of Help for Heroes in the spring and summer.

Anyone who wants to buy a calendar can get one from the Wheatsheaf.
