A jury was today considering its verdict in the trial of a 32-year-old man accused of raping a 12-year-old girl.

The child claims Levi Ibbotson threatened to kill her if she told anyone what he had done.

She told Bradford Crown Court he pinned her by the arms in her bedroom and raped her after showing her a bag of the drug mephedrone, also known as MCAT.

Ibbotson, of Wenborough Lane, Holme Wood, Bradford, denies touching the girl and says she has made up the allegation.

Prosecutor Nick Askins told the jury Ibbotson raped the girl at her home on a morning in February.

She did not report the alleged attack but told a school social worker four months later that “something disgusting” had happened.

The girl told the court she screamed and cried as she was raped.

She claimed Ibbotson threatened: “If you tell owt, I’ll blow all your houses up and make sure you are dead first.”

Mr Askins said medical evidence supported the girl’s claims.

He told the jury suggestions her family put her up to making a false allegation were “far fetched and ridiculous.”

“It would be a major work of fiction, worthy of Hans Christian Andersen himself,” Mr Askins said.

Ibbotson, who the court has heard has a criminal record but not for any sexual offence, told the jury he was innocent.

He admitted misusing drugs.

He alleges some of the girl’s relatives conspired to back up her story to take revenge after a family member was sent to jail. The trial continues.
