Allotment holders are celebrating the opening of a clubhouse at their site.
Members of Northcliffe Allotment Society at Shipley spent 18 months securing grants and raising funds for the building, which will also be used by schools, community groups and the police for youth work.
Money for the £15,000 facility came from Bradford Council’s Community Chest funds, community organisation CNET and the sale of Leeds-Bradford Airport. Irene Vidler, secretary of the society, said: “We have been able to get a lovely facility that will be used not just by the society but will also be opened up to the community.
“It’s only a small clubhouse. It’s not equipped with anything expensive but it will still be an asset to the community.”
