A farmer and his wife have been left devastated after thieves stole their pet dog.
Spot, an eight-year-old Jack Russell, was snatched from Roland Emmott’s Land Rover while it was parked outside the Acorn pub in The Green, Eldwick, near Bingley, on Tuesday morning.
Builders working there told Mr Emmott that thieves had stolen tools from their van, and when he went to his vehicle he discovered Spot was also missing.
A Facebook group has been set up in a bid to find Spot, who has a distinctive bark “like a duck”.
Mr Emmott, 73, who lives in Orchard Grove, Menston, but owns a farm at Eldwick, reported the theft, which took place between 11am and 11.30am, to police.
He said: “It's awful. My wife’s devastated and hasn’t slept a wink."
Anyone who saw anything suspicious should contact Bingley Neighbourhood Policing Team on (01274) 475331.
