Armed robbers threatened security guards with sledgehammers as they made a cash delivery to a bank in Brighouse last night.
The guards were delivering to the bank in Commercial Street at 7.50pm when they were confronted by two men.
They stole a cash box containing a substantial amount of money and drove off in a silver BMW believed to be fitted with false registration plates.
The first suspect was described as 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall and was wearing a black cloth bag over his head with eye holes cut out. The second was described as white, about 5ft 8ins tall, stocky, and wearing a cream-coloured balaclava mask.
No-one was hurt during the robbery.
Detectives want to speak to anyone who witnessed the robbery or who might be able to identify any suspects.
They have been urged to contact Halifax CID on 0845 6060606, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
