Keelham Hall farm shop in Thornton, Bradford, in is line for both regional and national awards.

The outlet on Brighouse & Denholme Road is reinforcing Bradford’s ‘best for food’ reputation as one of three businesses shortlisted for the meat awards category in the annual Taste Yorkshire Awards.

For the second year in succession, Keelham Hall Farm Shop has also been shortlisted as one of three finalists for the Farm Shop Butchery of the Year category in the national Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards.

The shop has won through to the final of the Taste Yorkshire Awards with its home-made pork, rhubarb and mango sausages.

The pork comes from Yorkshire-reared pigs, the rhubarb from the famous Yorkshire Rhubarb Triangle, while the mango chutney, runner-up in the Deliciously Yorkshire Awards, is sourced through West Yorkshire supplier Curry Cuisine.

The Taste Yorkshire Awards are run in association with the York Food and Drink Festival from September 17-26 and winner will be announced at an awards dinner on Friday, September 24. On Monday, September 20, Keelham Hall Farm Shop will be showcasing its sausage ranges at the festival by handing out free tastings in Parliament Street, York.

The shop’s Victoria Robertshaw said: “We are now one of the region’s largest shop windows for Yorkshire produce, which in itself has a major knock-on effect in terms of the immense contribution we make to the regional economy.”

“Last year, our annual sales of Yorkshire products peaked at over £3.2 million. Official figures show that every £1 spent on local produce injects £3 into the regional economy, which means we have pumped in almost £10 million, a huge amount.”
