A girls’ school that can boast an author and actress among its former pupils is celebrating its 80th anniversary.
Jilly Cooper and actress Georgie Henley, star of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, were both taught at Moorfield School, Ilkley.
The school began its anniversary celebrations with a Birthday Ball at the Craiglands Hotel, Ilkley, on Saturday.
More celebrations are planned in the weeks ahead, including an open day on Wednesday, October 20. Moorfield was started by a Miss Thorpe in 1930, teaching children in converted rooms of her home.
