Bradford’s RSPCA centre is “overwhelmed” with cats and is urging people to get their pets neutered to reduce the problem of animals that are unwanted or cannot be cared for.
The centre, in Mount Street, is now looking after 129 cats and kittens and is struggling to cope.
Centre manager Mandy Miller said: “All our cat pens are full, we have got cats being fostered by members of staff because there is nowhere to keep them.
“We need people to get their cats spayed. That is obviously the creation of the problem.
“We are overwhelmed.”
To adopt a kitten costs £85 and cats over six months old are being sold at a reduced rate of £27.50 while the charity attempts to reduce the number of animals in its care.
Families on benefits could be able to get their cat neutered at a reduced cost of £5 between now and December.
