The Poet Laureate will appear at the first Bronte Festival of Women’s Writing in Haworth this month.
Carol Ann Duffy will give a reading during the September 17-19 event organised by the Bronte Parsonage Museum.
There will also be a poetry workshop, talks, drop-in events and activities for families, at village venues. She will read from her work on the Saturday at 7.30pm.
Novelist Kate Mosse will also read from her work on the Friday. The next morning the museum’s recent writer in residence Katrina Naomi will lead a poetry workshop, after participants examine Bronte items that are not on display to the public.
On the Sunday writer Daisy Hay will speak about her book Young Romantics.
Family activities will include a poetry trail around Haworth, storytelling and informal readings by local poets.
Details of festival events are on the website bronte.info and tickets can be booked by contacting jenna.holmes@bronte.org. uk or (01535) 640188.
The festival is supported by Arts Council England.
