Otley is preparing to host a six-week course in Nordic walking.
The energetic activity evolved from off-season ski training and involves participants striding over terrain using rubber tipped poles.
Leeds City Council has organised the course which will be run from the Chevin Country Park Hotel and Spa and starts on Monday, September 6.
WalkIt Yorkshire, Otley Town Council and Community Sport are also supporting the initiative, which is open to anyone aged 45 or over.
Sessions – limited to 15 walkers, all of who will be provided with poles – will run from 1pm to 2pm and from 6pm to 7pm.
A special introduction booking fee of £12 for the whole course is being offered.
