Yorkshire Water is making good progress on improvement work at Embsay Reservoir, near Skipton.
Last week, contractors Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) brought in heavy equipment to help with the project to replace the existing overflow spillway.
And from Monday the dam crest footpath will be closed to allow the contractors to carry out work – including digging a trench – along the crest of the reservoir.
“We hope to complete the crest work in around ten weeks, which means we hope to reopen the footpath from the middle of November,” said a spokesman for Yorkshire Water.
The whole project is expected to be completed by April 2011 and will improve the security of the water supply in the Embsay Reservoir.
