A major hurdle in the full re-opening of Bingley’s Ireland Bridge will be cleared when traffic lights leading to the historic structure are removed this weekend.
Work had been continuing – despite the re-opening of the 16th century bridge – on the stretch of road known as The Twines, between the bridge and the St Ives Estate.
Harden Road had only been open in one direction, causing queues at the temporary traffic lights, and Ireland Bridge has been temporarily closed again for the past week, while work was being carried out.
That followed a full closure of the bridge for six months.
But the restrictions are expected to be removed this weekend, allowing the free flow of traffic across the bridge.
